Charmaine Whitmore is the best blocker in the NCAA volleyball .
The pride of Fort Smith, Arkansas exploded in her senior year playing for the University of Texas at Arlington. The tall girl (6 ft 1) and an impressive vertical jump became the best blocker in the country with an average 1.79 blocks per set.
Charmaine is a graduate of Northside High School in her native Fort Smith, this girl was a superstar from high school in both volleyball and basketball. She was All-Conference player for three years in both sports and won a record 31 kills in a single game .
In her first two years in NCAA volleyball she played for Arkansas where she played in 27 of the 31 games as a freshman and started 18 of them .
In 2012 she transferred to the UT Arlington Mavericks and immediately had an impact. Led the team with 119 blocks for a percentage of 1.21 per set, was third on the team with an attack percentage of .219 and fifth in kills with 178 averaging 1.82 per game. She had 16 digs and an assist.
This season has been the best of Charmaine Whitmore’s career. She has been impressive in all departments: achieved 113 soft blocks, 21 single blocks and 181 blocks in attendance for a percentage of 1.79 ( the best in the country). She also made 25 saves for an average of .22 per set .
On the offensive side Whitmore made 219 shots for an average of 1.94 kills per set.
