Trinidad And Tobago 'More Prosperous' Than Jamaica

Posted by PanamericanWorld on November 02, 2015

Trinidad and Tobago has been ranked the 43rd most prosperous country in the world - ahead of all other Caribbean islands.

The annual Prosperity Index ranks 142 countries across eight categories: the economy, entrepreneurship and opportunity; governance; education; health; safety and security; personal freedom and social capital.

Out of those categories, Trinidad and Tobago excelled in personal freedom and entrepreneurship and opportunity.

However, Trinidad and Tobago was ranked low in economic success and education.

With an overall ranking of 43 out of 142 included countries, Trinidad has been named the most prosperous Caribbean island. It scored more points than Jamaica, which was ranked at No. 62.

The 2015 Index, published today (Nov 2), also showed that the UK is the 15th most prosperous country in the world. This is largely due to its strong economic performance over the past few years.

This year’s results showed the UK has reached its highest level of economic success ever recorded, climbing nine places from last year to 19th on the Economy sub-index.

The 2015 Prosperity Index finds that the most prosperous countries are those which have a strong economy, sound governance, good quality public services, and which provide security, freedom, and opportunity to their citizens.
