Guyana's Alpha will look to press Portland Timbers in CONCACAF Champions League

Alpha United will be seeking to make its home field an advantage, when it faces the Portland Timbers in a crucial CONCACAF Champions League Group 5 encounter on Tuesday at the Guyana National Stadium.
After suffering a narrow 1-0 loss to visiting Olimpia in its opener on August 5, the Hammer is looking to bounce back against the MLS side, which played at the New England Revolution on Saturday, before flying to Guyana.
Head coach Wayne Dover said that his squad has made adjustments based on its performance against the Honduran power.
“We want to play a more pressuring game and try to force them into errors in their defensive third and to capitalize on our chances by scoring goals, something we didn’t do in our last game,” he noted.

The possibility for line-up changes exists, but Dover would not disclose what he is considering in terms of personnel. “We have spent a lot of time on offensive patterns and we did a lot of goal scoring drills and they boys have been doing well,” Dover added. “We’ve also got a few players who are now available to us who were not for the first game and we are hoping to use them to the fullest.”
