A city which personality is amalgamated by a mixture of features: from the glamour of Recoleta’s French attics to La Boca’s Italian flavors, through the Spanish tradition of May’s Avenue. In Buenos Aires, Baroque designs coexist with minimalist styles; the new deconstructive cuisine, with asados and picadas at popular family restaurants and fancy tea houses; sinuous parks are mingled with imposing apartment towers; this city either ignores or loves the Río de la Plata. In Buenos Aires, there is an overlapping of different, paradoxical realities, Latin American excess with intimate spaces; passion with the finest irony. Buenos Aires city has converted tango’s melancholy and milonga’s joy into collective memory.
