The Chicago Fire are wasting no time in bringing in the reinforcements for 2015.

A day after acquiring Nigerian forward Kennedy Igboananike, the Fire announced the signing of defender Joevin Jones on Wednesday. The 23-year-old Trinidad and Tobago international joins the club from W Connection following his most recent loan spell at Finnish Veikkausliiga club HJK Helsinki.

“We’re pleased that Joevin will be joining the Fire,” said Fire head coach Frank Yallop in a statement. “He’s a versatile player and is a great addition as we build a squad that will compete in 2015.”While still being relatively young, Jones has plenty of experience. He has 37 caps on the international level for Trinidad and Tobago, appearining in competitions like the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup as well as the 2010, 2012 and 2014 Caribbean Cups.

He most recently made six appearances for Helsinki, but prior to that helped W Connection claim their fifth league title in 2013. Jones also previously played in the CONCACAF Champions League, making three appearances.
